It’s time to get this show on the road. Literally.
I never knew what to start writing with, and nothing has changed. What should the first line be?
Who: Soon to be a 38-year-old woman with a low threshold for boredom and probably more thirst for adventure than common sense (though I am a proud owner of quite a lot of common sense).
Where: South America. Cycling out of Bogota, Colombia, and (very) vaguely heading south.
Why: Because nothing in life can be taken for granted. Health doesn’t last forever, and life needs to be lived while it’s still possible.
My entire life I have been looking for something and failing to find it…until one day when I decided to go cycle touring in South America, and since then, inside, everything just felt right.
I have spent the last few days acclimatizing to the altitude (Bogota at 2640m is the third highest capital in the world, after La Paz and Quito), enjoying Colombian food and the friendliness of the Colombians while sorting final bits and bobs with my kit and bike.
The adventure officially starts on Monday!
